Company Trip 2022 – Finally In Person Again!

What was still hopeful last time became reality: After a digital company event in 2020, we were finally able to get together in person again this year. Despite the bad weather that had been announced, around 140 IT Center colleagues took part in the company trip. So much commitment was rewarded by the weather of Aachen – it improved hourly. The meeting point was at Kopernikusstraße 6 on October 21 at 9 am. Gamification meets IT Security

When dealing with information technology, a whole range of dangers may lurk. In this context, the “human factor” is often presented as a particularly large and important challenge. Ignorance, naivety and a lack of caution are the most common causes of so-called insider threats. Experts agree on one thing: IT security can only be as good as the people who operate the systems.

For a security concept to be implemented successfully, it first has to be understood by the users. IT security awareness training courses are often used for this purpose. These are designed to strengthen the general understanding of security and to illustrate concrete risks. One of the most important strategies here is called gamification. Introduction of Adobe SeviRe

From now on, Adobe can be found in the Selfsevice of Virtual Resources (SeviRe). RWTH employees who have the role of „IT-purchaser” now have the option to manage licenses for Adobe there.

New Work – Working from home as a new form of work

Until the beginning of 2020 the normal day-to-day work basically looked normal for almost everyone:
Getting to work in the morning, spending the day in the office with the team, holding meetings, having a quick chat with each other at the coffee machine, and in the evening heading back home again.

Suddenly, this routine was interrupted. The pandemic changed the way we worked as we knew it, and new or rather less common forms took root, such as working from home.

As of March 2020, working from home was the new norm for many workers. This confronted us all with new and major challenges that we had to adapt to in a timely manner.
