Webex – English: A Little Glossary

The Webex app has been in regular operation since November 2, 2023. We have already informed you about the first steps in using Webex and the most important functions in two blog posts. In this last blog post in the Webex series, we would like to introduce you to a few Webex technical terms and explain the functionalities behind them.

Welcome, Webex!

Today, Webex was activated RWTH-wide. All employees can now use the cloud-based messenger and team collaboration app from Cisco Systems.

In the first blog post about Webex, we familiarized you with the first steps. You now know how to install the app and how to log in afterwards.

But what features does Webex offer and how exactly are they used? We will answer these questions in the following article and introduce you to the four most important functions for using Webex at RWTH Aachen University: Softphone, Chat Collaboration, Cloud Calling, and Meetings.

New Look in the TK-Portal

With the change to the new Cisco telephone system as part of the network upgrade, a shift is taking place. In the old Alcatel Lucent telephone system, call numbers were tied to telephones. In the new Cisco telephone system, on the other hand, telephone numbers are assigned to persons.
