October 23, 2024 marks a significant day for us: It was with great joy that we inaugurated our High Performance Computer CLAIX-2023! This modern system marks a significant advance for High Performance Computing and is available to researchers at RWTH and all German universities.
11th Aachen Company Run – Not Without My (It Center) Team

Not only can we do the maths, we can also run: At the 11th Aachen company run, the IT Center once again proved its sporting prowess and even took 3rd place in the individual classification! True to the motto “We’re not just good at computing”, the running team took the opportunity this year to grow together as a team and achieve new personal bests. The highlight of the carnival season – Fat Thursday or Weiberfastnacht – was also duly heralded at the IT Center. Many look forward to this day all year round and on February 8, 2024, it finally happened!
On this day, the IT Center’s employees met in their most colorful costumes in the foyer of the IT-ServiceDesk at Seffenter Weg 23 to celebrate the fifth season. From 10:30 am, the departments arrived one by one and the carnival party could get started!

IT Center Trainee Honored For Internship Abroad

A few weeks ago, our DiMa trainee Yasin Kalem shared his experiences and adventures during his internship abroad in Malta with us.
Not only was he congratulated for this. He even received an award for his special commitment from the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) at the renowned “Zukunft Ausbildung” event!

As the data center of a Rhenish university rich in tradition, the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University also enjoys the fifth season.
Therefore, there will be changes in the opening hours of the IT ServiceDesk over the carnival days:

All good things come in … “two”! Since our last year’s Christmas party unfortunately had to be cancelled, the already planned and thought-out celebration – our own IT Center Christmas market – was made up for and celebrated on 9 December this year. After all, postponed is not abandoned! The IT Center’s party team was full of beans and organised a wonderful party that lacked nothing. The pre-Christmas season was ushered in with the smell of mulled wine and waffles and musical support from a large part of the IT Center staff.
