The IT-ServiceDesk is the central point of contact for all questions relating to the IT Center’s IT services. The support requests we receive every day are very diverse. To avoid losing track of them, all requests are recorded as “tickets”, assigned a unique ticket number/reference number for further tracking, and stored in an IT service management tool for further processing. To increase the transparency of ticket processing for our users, the IT Center offers a web interface to the Ticket-Portal.

Who does not know it? With all the passwords and usernames you have to remember, it can easily happen that you suddenly can’t remember anything when logging in.

Fortunately, this is not a problem at all because there is the possibility to set a new password before logging into the RWTH Single Sign-On or to have the username sent to you. After logging into the RWTH Single Sign-On account, you can then set passwords for all other services in IdM Selfservice. Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome to RWTHjupyter!
Source: RWTHjupyter

At the beginning of the year, we announced that the RWTHjupyter service had entered the pilot phase. The goal is to ensure a stable process in the subsequent regular operation by building up experience, taking over operations and setting up support structures.

But have you ever wondered who are the people behind RWTHjupyter that have made it this far?

Today we introduce you to one of the developers: Steffen Vogel works as a research associate at the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) and has been there from the beginning. We were allowed to interview him about the development of RWTHjupyter.

The time has come: After 14 years, it is with a heavy heart that we say our final goodbyes to L2P.

Until 2019, L2P was the central teaching and learning platform at RWTH Aachen University. In the course of “Digitalization Strategy for Teaching” it was decided to switch to Moodle as an open source software. After a successful test and pilot phase, RWTHmoodle was implemented into university-wide operation in the summer semester 2019 and since then L2P has only served as an archive. Pling! Did you hear that?

Pling! A notification. Pling! And again, a notification. Whether it’s Whatsapp, Facebook or Snapchat, we receive notifications about the latest events from all sorts of platforms throughout the day. Assuming we haven’t turned them off. But not only the social media channels provide us with the latest announcements, also RWTHmoodle can and sends automatic notifications.

Often these are then not urgent, not relevant or not even meant for you in the first place, because a heated discussion is just taking place in a group chat. And also at RWTHmoodle we are often asked if it is possible to turn off notifications that are not of interest to oneself. Since this was not easily possible until now, we have listened to your feedback and made a few adjustments.

Examinations at RWTH Aachen University can also be conducted as online remote exams in the summer semester 2021. For better capacity planning, teachers are requested to apply for their preferred remote examination platform in RWTHonline by 30.06.2021. This must also be done if the examinations initially continue to be scheduled in presence.

As in the winter semester 2020/21, the platforms Dynexite and temp-Moodle are available for online remote exams. Dynexite is the RWTH’s central examination system. temp-Moodle was introduced in the examination phase of the 2020/21 winter semester to ensure that the examination process runs smoothly. RWTHmoodle, which was also used for exams in the winter semester, is only available for teaching purposes in the summer semester. Exams are not conducted on this system.
