The IT-ServiceDesk is the central point of contact for all questions relating to the IT Center’s IT services. The support requests we receive every day are very diverse. To avoid losing track of them, all requests are recorded as “tickets”, assigned a unique ticket number/reference number for further tracking, and stored in an IT service management tool for further processing. To increase the transparency of ticket processing for our users, the IT Center offers a web interface to the Ticket-Portal.

Die IT Center Eventseiten

The IT Center, as the central IT service provider of RWTH Aachen University, offers a number of continuing education and information events. Dark Data – Data that no one knows about anymore

Eisberg von oben. Unter der Oberfläche liegt der Großteil des Eisberges verborgen.

There is more hidden beneath the surface than we are actually aware of. This applies not only to icebergs, but also to stored data. (Photo: Unsplash)

“Keeping order is not difficult. Cleaning up, on the other hand, is very difficult.” That’s kind of the saying, isn’t it? No matter how you spin the proverb, this principle applies not only to children’s rooms and closets, it also applies to our digital memories, and many people are not yet aware of this. Just because we can’t touch digitized data doesn’t mean it doesn’t waste space or energy. In Germany, around 66 percent of the data held is “dark” and lies below the surface of users’ consciousness. Read this article to find out what this is all about.

Who does not know it? With all the passwords and usernames you have to remember, it can easily happen that you suddenly can’t remember anything when logging in.
