Responding to the former announcement, many CPPCC members (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) agree that the merger of two government organization may improve the efficiency. However, they think it is not a good idea use the name of National Health and Family Planning Commission, the name of Health Ministry should be kept for the restructured organization. For one thing, the Health Ministry has been widely adopted by many countries, and it is good to keep this term. For the other, Population and Family Planning Commission was originally part of Health Ministry, and it was only because the government wanted to strengthen the “One Child Polity” the Population and Family Planning Commission becomes an independent organization.
In another term, their responses could be interpreted as those CPPCC members want the Population and Family Planning Commission to be part of Health Ministry as before.
